Staircase Refurbishment
Client Brief: Modernise the staircase, improve the look of alcove (which has the cylinder in the cupboard) midway up the stairs, utilise the dead space above and to the side of the staircase for more bedroom space.
Works: Removal of the old fashioned turned newel posts and spindles, clad the stair panel and walls with a walnut slatted panel. Slatted panels supplied by Naturewall. New stud walls above and to the side of the stairs plaster boarded and skimmed to provide more bedroom space. New steel newel posts fitted with toughened glass panels. Steel posts finished with a tinted laquer to give a polished industrial look. The understairs and alcove cupboards clad with the slats to give a continuous look to the walls. LED strip fitted to alcove to give a background light.
